Privacy policy
In short
- No account. Your music, playlists and listening history stay on your iPhone and are never uploaded.
- No analytics and no crash reporting.
- Spotify, Dropbox and Google Drive are optional, and the app talks to them directly from your phone.
- The free version shows Google ads, after asking for your consent where required. Premium has no ads.
- Subscriptions go through Apple and a service called Adapty, which never learns what you listen to.
Who we are
Statisfy is made by Statisfy (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the personal data described here. For any question about this policy, email contact@statisfy.me.
On your iPhone
The app's core works entirely on your device. This data is stored inside the app on your iPhone; we never receive it.
| What | Why | How to remove it |
|---|---|---|
| Music files you import, and their covers | To play them offline | Delete them in the Library, or delete the app |
| Track details you edit, and your playlists | Your library | Edit or delete them in the app |
| Listening history: what you played, when and for how long (your last 20,000 plays) | Your stats and Made for you playlists | Settings → Storage → Clear listening history |
| Settings such as theme, equalizer and notifications | To remember your choices | Delete the app |
Like any app's data, it may be included in your iCloud or computer backups of your iPhone.
Spotify, Dropbox and Google Drive
These connections are optional and made directly between your iPhone and the service. You sign in on the service's own page, so we never see your password, and the access tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain on your device. Disconnecting in Settings → Account deletes them; you can also revoke access from the service's own settings, which is the surest way before deleting the app.
- Spotify. The app reads your profile (name, email, country, plan and picture), top artists and tracks, recently played and currently playing tracks, and your playlists, and can control Spotify playback. This is only used to show your Spotify stats and controls in the app. It is kept in memory while the app is open, never saved, and never sent to us, to advertisers or to Adapty. See Spotify's privacy policy.
- Dropbox. The app lists and reads your files, and reads basic account information, only so you can browse your folders and import the audio files you choose. See Dropbox's privacy policy.
- Google Drive. The app only uses the
drive.filepermission: it can see the files you pick in Google's picker and nothing else, and only downloads them into the app. Statisfy's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See Google's privacy policy.
Ads
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Premium shows none and requests none. Before any ad is requested, Google's consent form asks for your choice where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), and iOS asks whether the app may track you. Only if you allow tracking can Google use your advertising identifier to personalise ads.
When ads are shown, Google may collect your IP address, device type and iOS version, the ads you see and tap, your consent choices and, if allowed, the advertising identifier, to deliver, measure and personalise ads. Nothing about your music or listening is sent. See how Google uses this information. You can turn tracking off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Subscriptions
Premium is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your name, card or Apple ID (see Apple's privacy policy).
To check your subscription and show the Premium screen, the app uses Adapty (Adapty Tech Inc.). Adapty creates an anonymous profile for your installation and receives:
- your App Store purchase records (product, dates, trial and renewal status);
- technical information: device model, iOS and app version, language, region, time zone, IP address, the app's device identifier and, if you allowed tracking, the advertising identifier;
- a few anonymous counts that help us understand who finds Premium useful, such as your library size as a range, number of playlists, plays in the last week, days since install, whether Spotify is connected, how often you have edited a track or shared a card, and how you use Premium features.
None of it includes track titles, artist names, anything from Spotify, or your name or email. See Adapty's privacy policy.
App updates
When the app opens, it checks our own update server for small fixes that can be installed without a new App Store version. The request contains the app version, the platform, a random identifier for your installation and, like any internet request, your IP address. It is used only to deliver updates, contains nothing about your music or listening, and server logs of these requests are deleted after 14 days.
Everything else
- Wi-Fi transfer runs a small server on your iPhone, reachable only from your local network, only while the transfer screen is open, and only after the four-digit code on your phone is entered. Files go straight from your computer to your phone, never through the internet or us.
- Notifications are scheduled on your iPhone, off until you turn them on, and never mention what you listened to.
- Story cards are created on your device and only go where you send them (Instagram, Facebook or another app), under that service's own policy.
- Photos. The app asks before saving a card to your library, and only sees a photo you pick yourself as a cover.
- Email. If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply.
What we don't do
- No analytics or crash reporting in the app.
- No access to your location, contacts, microphone or camera.
- No selling of your personal information. Under some US state laws, personalised ads can count as “sharing”; you can opt out by declining tracking, or with Premium.
- No use of your data to train AI, and nothing is sent to an AI service.
Legal bases, retention and transfers
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on your consent for personalised ads and device identifiers (you can withdraw it at any time, as above); on performing our contract with you for the services you connect, the subscription you buy and app updates; and on our legitimate interest for the anonymous Adapty counts and keeping our servers secure.
Data on your iPhone stays until you delete it. Adapty keeps subscription records as long as needed to manage your subscription, or until you ask us to delete them. Google keeps ad data under its own policies. Support emails are deleted once your question is resolved.
Adapty, Google, Spotify, Dropbox and Apple may process data outside the EEA and the UK, including in the United States, using safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent. Most of your data is already in your hands, on your iPhone. For data held by Adapty, email contact@statisfy.me and we will act within one month; as the profile is anonymous, we may ask for your purchase receipt to find it. For Google, Spotify, Dropbox or Apple, you can also contact them directly. In the EEA or the UK, you can complain to your data protection authority.
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes. The current version is always at this address. Questions: contact@statisfy.me.
